'The Gallops' on the Berks/Oxon Ridgeway, nr Compton Follow the signs to Compton off of the A34 which is about 10 miles from the Newbury turnoff (J11) of the M4 heading towards Didcot/Oxford. As you get into Compton, follow Churn road on the left hand side up to the Ridgeway.

Great flying to be had here. It's very open and a huge area of grassland which is all but completely unused except for the odd radio control glider. You'll get the odd trials biker going along the Ridgeway but that's all. It's not near any roads at all so it's peace and quiet all day. The wind is usually stronger here than anywhere else locally, being higher up. You also get a lovely view of Didcot power station!

The field is short grass with does have weeds other things to tangle your line if your not careful - not somewhere you could easily solo launch your foil kite.
